Coming to Destiny 2: beyond Light – What We Know

If you’re a fan of raids, Goliath bosses and tonnes of loot then you will likely be all too familiar with the Destiny franchise. Destiny 2, the follow up to Bungie’s incredible otherworldly FPS adventure, has received a good number of expansions since its release on the 6th September 2017. However, the upcoming expansion Beyond Light could arguably be the pick of the bunch judging by what we already know ahead of its release on 10th November 2020.

This expansion will introduce players to the Europa, a frozen moon that orbits Jupiter. This area has become overrun with a power known as ‘the darkness’ and the player will have to confront this dangerous entity and even harness the power of darkness to survive and thrive in this new environment. You’ll be wondering what weapons and loot that you can gain through this expansion. Well, have no fear as we are here to clear that right up for you. Here is a rundown on everything to expect from Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

Classic Destiny Raids Returning

Destiny 2: Beyond Light Vault of Glass

One of the most interesting additions coming due to tot the expansion, especially for long time Destiny fans will be the return of some classic raids from the original instalment in the series. The two areas that are all but confirmed to make their way back to the game are the Old Russian Cosmodrome on earth and the Vault of glass raid on Venus. These iconic areas will not be completely accessible at first but in future expansions, Bungie has made it clear that they will add to these assets and aim to make them faithful recreations from the original.

New Damage Elements

Destiny 2 Warlock Shadebinder
Destiny 2 Hunter Revenant
Destiny 2 Titan Behemoth

Along with the already existing elements such as Solar, Arc and Void, it seems we have a new addition in the form of ‘stasis’. This damage element not to be mistaken with the power in Dead Space of the same name seems to have a freeze and shatter effect that will make picking off enemies a breeze. Game director Luke Smith has also revealed in a recent interview with streamer Dr Lupo that the customization tree for this element will be much more comprehensive compared to previous offerings and offer brand new play styles for players beginning to feel the grind.

Loot, Loot, Loot!

Predictably, this expansion doesn’t just offer narrative and a new setting. It also packs the expansion with a cavalcade of new exotic items that will be more than enough to get players excited. Just for pre-ordering this expansion, you’ll get access to an exotic weapon in the form of ‘No Time To Explain’ which is a returning pulse rifle that promises to pack a punch. However, for those not on the preorder list, have no fear, there is plenty of other goodies on offer.

The other weapon we have had confirmed via Luke Smith is Hawkmoon that makes a return from the original game. This gun is one of the most interesting, brilliant, life-saving and frustrating guns in the series due to its ‘Luck of the Chamber’ effect. This assigns random damage buffs to bullets in the chamber meaning you never truly know how effective your gun will be in battle. However, this gun will no longer offer one-shot kills anymore so don’t expect this one to be the holy grail that it once was.

Other than these confirmed weapons we aren’t too sure what we will get. However, judging by the trailers and the gameplay we have been treated to, we know that these will certainly not be the only desirable items on offer here.

A New Raid On The Way

We all love a good raid mission and thankfully, this expansion will not skimp on this aspect. Bungie gives us access to a new raid called ‘The Deep Stone Crypt’ which will be located deep within the frozen tundra of Europa. This one promises to be a captivating and difficult experience which will require an experienced group of players to succeed. This won’t be available right from the off but we would assume that within the first few weeks we will have access to this raid.

Deluxe is a Sweet Deal

This may not be something that will interest everyone but for those who like additional swag, this is the deal for you.
