Ubisoft has announced that Watchdogs Legion Online will be delayed. Until next year. Ubisoft made this announcement recently noting that the game ought to have been released 3rd December, 2020. However, there are projections that the game will drop early 2021. Hence, we regret to inform you that one of the most anticipated multi-player experiences of this year will no longer be available next week as originally planned.

Reason for the Watchdogs Legion Online Delay?

The reason for the delay is due to the litany of bugs experienced by testers in the Watchdogs Legion Online game. As a result, the game will now be released early 2021. The delay is to give the developers enough time to fix the bugs discovered in Watchdogs Legion Online and produce the best online component they possibly can.

Ubisoft wrote on their website giving a reason for the delay

“As part of our commitment to fixing the game’s issues, we’ve decided to delay the Online mode of Watch Dogs: Legion to early 2021. This will allow us to focus on fixing issues with single player, and it will give us more time to test the online experience to help ensure a smooth launch of the mode. They are releasing a patch 2.20 this week which will hopefully fix some of the bugs and save corruption experienced in the game. Their statement further reads
“As an immediate next step, this week, we are releasing Update 2.20 to PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Stadia. The update will add a manual Save Game button to PC, as well as bring further stability improvements for Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PlayStation 4. You can find the full list of patch notes here.”

Possible Improvements we should expect in Watchdogs

Ubisoft is currently focusing on improvements to the game, including cross-save progression, GPU performance on PC, and various bug and performance fixes.
Plus, when Watch Dogs Online finally arrives, it will bring a host of new game modes.

It will introduce new missions to be played in four player co-op, as well as dynamic events and PvP mode. With regards to PvP, up to eight players will be able to battle it out in the Spider Bot Arena, using the Spider Bot drones.
Lathieeshe Thillainathan, live producer on Watch Dogs: Legion says

“The online for Legion, we built a dedicated online sandbox, so it’s a completely different world. We’re taking all of London and putting it into an online sandbox, and we built dedicated online content. So, we built the co-op missions and the tactical ops and everything else – those are all built for online. And then you have your own team that you build in online as well. It’s a complete, separate, piece of content to the single-player campaign.”

This means that when you start the game, you can either choose single player campaign or multiplayer as both have different missions, reward systems and team composition.

Furthermore, to test your team’s communication skills, the tactical ops special missions have been added.

We will have to be patient until 2021 before we will be able to march into dystopian London with friends. However, we think the wait will definitely be worth it in the end.
